Climbing the Ladder to General Counsel

Hackett, CEO and chief legal officer of Legal Executive Leadership in Chevy Chase, Maryland, says, ‘Successful attorney-client relationships are based on something more than quality and expertise—they are rooted in trust.’ She also suggests that the promotions at Ford and GE are ‘indicative of carefully planned and cultivated succession plans. … This kind of prep and transition is an incredibly smart practice, but one that is often overlooked or insufficiently executed in law—both in firms and in departments.’”
