24 percent of Class of 2000 JDs not Practicing Law

An interesting “third wave” survey of Class of 2000 JDs finds that 24 percent of them are not practicing law. Of particular interest to in-house counsel is the significant increase of these JDs who are now on the business side – something that in-house counsel should keep in mind as some companies often significant opportunities for movement outside of the law department:

A third-wave survey of lawyers who passed the bar in 2000 has found a decline in the percentage of lawyers practicing law and major differences in pay based on gender, law school ranking and grades.
