UK Law Firm to Go Public

First Australia, now the UK and perhaps Canada in the future – will regulators eventually permit nonlawyer ownership of law firms in the US? Maybe the tech unicorns and decacorns will be caught by surprise when their own law firms are competing with them in the race to hit the public markets.  This trend could also make for some interesting annual shareholder meetings.

“Birmingham-based Gateley announced Tuesday that it had retained Cantor Fitzgerald Europe to provide financial advice on a plan to raise as much as 10 million British pounds in an initial public offering later this year, Bloomberg reports.”
