Expense Accounts & the Law (Funny)

by Editors on March 26, 2007

Peter Lattman at the Wall Street Journal Law Blog (a great blog to add to your blog reader) has a gem of a post detailing a

“poignant email exchange that emerged from the 3,000 pages of emails released by the DOJ in response to questions over the U.S. Attorney dismissals. In the exchange, career DOJ prosecutor David Margolis asks deputy AG and political appointee Michael Elston to approve his response to Carol Lam, the fired U.S. Attorney in San Diego.

David,

I’ve really enjoyed every minute of my time as U.S. Attorney. Thank you for helping me have that experience, and for your valuable counsel over the years. I hope that life continues to treat you well.

Warmest regards,

Carol

here is my proposed response — any qualms or suggestions?
Carol: sorry that we did not have an opportunity to say goodbye last week. i am confident that you will have great success in your new endeavor and i wish you all the best. When you come to D.C., i would like to take you to lunch on my expense account.
Best Wishes,
David
