New In-house Hires

    • Averion International Corp. (OTCBB:AVRO), a clinical research organization (CRO) specializing in oncology, medical devices, dermatology and nephrology, announced the appointment of Glenn E. Deegan as vice president and general counsel.
    • Kevin Carr has been named as the new executive assistant to the president and general counsel at the University of Charleston.
    • Kathleen Andleman has been named General Counsel of the California State Teachers Retirement System. She will begin work at the nations second-largest public pension fund on April 2.
    • Willis Group Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE: WSH), the global insurance broker, announced the appointment of Adam Ciongoli as General Counsel of Willis Group Holdings. Ciongoli will oversee legal, compliance and audit functions. In addition, Ciongoli will become a member of the Willis Partners Group.
    • John Muir Health named Nancy Olson as a senior vice president and its first general counsel. Walnut Creek-based John Muir said Olson will establish a legal services department for the system and manage legal and compliance services in the newly created role.
    • Saks Inc., which owns the upscale Saks Fifth Avenue department stores, said Wednesday Michael Brizel will take over for Charles Hansen as the company’s executive vice president and general counsel.
    • Commerce Energy Group, Inc. (AMEX:EGR), a leading U.S. electricity and natural gas marketing company, named Erik A. Lopez as senior vice president and general counsel.
