How to Arbitrate Internationally

by Editors on June 30, 2006

Claudia T. Salomon and Matthew Saunders
of DLA Piper have published an informative article on international arbitration in the New York Law Journal:

"With the advent of globalization, the number of companies engaged in cross-border transactions, and therefore, cross-border disputes, has grown exponentially. To avoid the maelstrom of litigating in a foreign country or indeed having satellite litigation over which countries’ courts have jurisdiction, international companies now appreciate that particular attention must be paid at the outset of the transaction to the dispute resolution mechanism within the underlying contract.

Statistics show that international commercial arbitration has emerged as the preferred choice for resolving such disputes."
